Inspiration is One of the Greatest Threats to Creativity

From the Film Between Two Worlds

I recently had JHS Pedals Founder Joshua Heath Scott share with my Legacy Collective and Worship Leader Academy mentorship group. He shared a very thought-provoking insight.

"Inspiration is the greatest threat to a creative."

Right after he said it, I immediately disagreed.

But after I thought about it, I realized that he was absolutely right.

We often romanticize Inspiration as the driving force behind our creativity. However, its fleeting nature can be an obstacle if that's what we're relying on to create.

On the other hand, discipline (the “d-word” for creatives), which is often overlooked, ultimately serves as the backbone that sustains creative endeavors.

It is discipline that compels us to engage in our craft consistently no matter how our emotions may feel that day.

While inspiration has its merits, it should not be the sole driving force behind your creative work.

Whether you are on the verge of completing a project or just beginning, remember that discipline is the key to reaching your goals.

I hope this was encouraging! Would love to hear your comments on this below.
