Introducing Wayne Simien Jr.
We are thrilled to announce that Wayne Simien Jr., an accomplished former NBA basketball player will be speaking at the Creative Legacy Conference!
From his early days at the University of Kansas to his remarkable achievements on the court, Simien's career has been filled with passion and perseverance. He was named to the 2001 McDonald's All-American Team and led his high school to a 6A-State Championship. At Kansas, Simien earned All-American honors, was a Wooden Award finalist, and became the Big 12 Player of the Year his senior year.
His success then continued in the NBA, where he was part of the Miami Heat's 2006 championship team. But beyond his athletic prowess, Simien's true calling became evident when he decided to retire from professional basketball in 2009 to pursue the ministry. In August 2021, he took up a vital role at the University of Kansas Athletic Department as the Associate Athletic Director of Engagement and Outreach.
His story is a testament to the powerful alignment of talent, faith, and purpose. "It's not just about the success on the court; it's about answering a greater calling and contributing to something larger than oneself," Wayne says.
